Joe Delon is a DJ, label owner, radio host and writer based in Lisbon. Joe draws on the fundamentals of
dance music’s past – the snap of a disco break, the sleaze of a Chicago bassline, the funk of electro and
the bittersweet touch of Italo – and deftly connects them to its vivid present, creating moments of pure
pop catharsis along the way.
Joe’s warm approach has brought him to respected clubs including Berghain/Panorama Bar (Berlin), Blitz
(Munich), C12 (Brussels), Closer (Kyiv), K4 (Ljubljana), Savage (Hanoi), The Observatory (Saigon) and
The Pickle Factory (London), and to festivals including Dimensions, Horst, Lighthouse and Nostromo. A
regular at queer parties, Joe has played for Adonis (London), Honcho (Pittsburgh), Kiss Me Again
(Manchester), Los Ninos (Brussels), Por Detroit (LA) and Snug (Hanoi) and is a resident at Pumping
Velvet (London).
Joe’s label, Welt Discos, is a platform for music that’s playfully serious and seriously playful. Alongside
vinyl releases by friends and artists he admires, the label has also become home to a series of fundraising
digital releases.
Online, Joe has recorded guest mixes for Resident Advisor, Truants, Is Burning, The Ghost, Maricas and
Honey Soundsystem. On the radio, he ran the monthly show Flamingo on Lisbon’s Rádio Quântica for
four years and was a resident on Frankfurt’s EOS Radio. He has appeared as a guest for Prosumer (NTS),
CC:Disco (Rinse), Butter Side Up (Rinse) and Bubble World (Refuge Worldwide).
