The word ”organic” often comes into mind when you hear MLiR\'s music. They blend together a whole new universe of sounds, analog vs organic, samples vs field recordings; always telling a story and impossible to categorize under one genre.
The Swedish superduo Einar Christoffersson and Marco Gegenheimer broke through in 2016 via their EP \"Swedish Lo-Life\", released on the eclectic Studio Barnhus label. Born from a love of heavily dug DJ sets, late night studio sessions and live organic elements; they channel a whole universe of stories. MLiR always have something to say through their sounds; constantly expanding their musical journey.
They’ve had varied support during the years from DJ Harvey, Hunee, Âme, Laurent Garnier, Axel Boman, Kornél Kovács, Danilo Plessow aka MCDE, Gilles Peterson, DJ Koze, Roman Flügel, Move D, Dixon, Nicola Cruz, Haai and Prins Thomas to name a few. The MLiR SoundCloud page is filled with mixes for NTS, DHA, Dekmantel, Dekmantel Selectors, Kiosk Radio, Worldwide FM, Krossfingers and others. With 2022’s releases on Marco’s and Arnau Obiols’ own Taf Kif Records, Ibadan and Shall Not Fade, 2023 brought to light the single ”8-Bit Zoo” on Swedish Bolero Records.
In 2024 they released a remix for the Swedish pop duo on Krånglan Broadcast, and a collab with Muudu on Moodmusic, a remix for Bolero Records, some edits on the newly started Smutty Edits and up next is their long awaited debut album, a 16 tracks double LP will be released on Studio Barnhus, October 18th.
Marco (the DJ of MLiR), who’s behind the online record store Magic Teapot Records, runs the party ”Calamari Rolls Royce” at the hyped Club Malasaña in Madrid on a bimonthly basis, after his move to Vietnam.
More to come is a mini album for Maher Daniel and Martin Buttrich’s Stratasonic Records, more edits, plus a mini album for Music From Memory. MLiR are not tucking themselves under any sombreros!
